地盤工学会四国支部「研究・論文賞」受賞！［4/17］（2026年4月20日更新）

研究室OBの棚谷です。このたび、令和7年度 地盤工学会四国支部賞（研究・論文賞）を受賞することができ、大変光栄に存じます。 本賞は、これまで取り組んできた研究成果をご評価いただいたものと受け止めており、関係の皆様へ心より感謝申し上げます。
本研究の遂行および論文の取りまとめにあたっては、多くの方々のご支援とご協力を賜りました。特に、共同研究者の原先生をはじめ、農研機構の泉 明良様、 日本製鉄株式会社の山崎 弘芳 様には、専門的見地からの貴重なご助言と多大なるご尽力をいただきました。この場を借りて深く感謝申し上げます。
本受賞を励みとして、今後も地盤工学分野の発展に寄与できるよう、研究活動に一層精進してまいります。今後ともご指導ご鞭撻のほど、よろしくお願い申し上げます。（OB　棚谷）

この度、地盤工学会四国支部より、令和7年度 地盤工学会四国支部賞（研究・論文賞）を受賞しました。本賞は、地盤工学分野における学術および技術の発展、 ならびに学会支部活動の活性化に寄与した優れた業績を表彰するものです。
受賞対象となったのは、地震・豪雨対策として鋼矢板によるため池堤体の補強工法を扱った「鋼矢板一列式工法で補強したため池堤体内の堤体表面からの浸透に関する解析的検討 他2編」であり、 共同受賞者は、原先生、泉明良氏（農研機構）、棚谷南海彦氏（エイト日本技術開発）です。
本研究は、ため池堤体を鋼矢板一列式工法により補強した場合について、地震および豪雨時を想定した実験・解析を通じて、堤体の被災防止機構に着目し検討を行ったものです。 近年、ため池堤体の老朽化を背景に、地震や豪雨による被害が頻発していることから、本研究は社会的ニーズに合致した取り組みとして評価いただいたものと受け止めております。 今後も、四国地域をはじめとする各地の防災・減災に資する技術の研究開発に、引き続き取り組んでまいります。
最後に、本研究の実施にあたり、多大なるご指導、ご助言を賜りました原先生、泉様、棚谷様をはじめ、関係者の皆様ならびに研究室の皆様に、心より御礼申し上げます。（D3 山崎）

第1回研究室ゼミ［4/14］（2026年4月15日更新）

B4の赤木です。4月14日にゼミのキックオフミーティングに参加させていただきました。ゼミでは新年度の研究運営方針について確認し、進学学生を中心とした発表が行われました。 発表では、ジャーマルさん、ビノさん、プッシュカールさんの研究内容を初めて詳しく知ることができ、大変興味深く感じました。また、私も博士課程に進学された古田さんと実験について発表を行い、 実験の改善点や発表資料における図の作成方法、説明の仕方など、多くのご指摘をいただき、有意義な発表となりました。
その後の懇親会では、院生・留学生の進学と原先生の「優秀広報貢献賞」受賞をお祝いしました。大変名誉ある賞であり、原先生の研究に対する姿勢やご活躍を改めて実感するとともに、 私自身も先生のように活躍できるよう、より一層研究に励んでいきたいと感じました。（B4　赤木）

B4の秦です。第1回研究室ゼミに参加させていただきました。今回、私は発表を行いませんでしたが、他の方々の発表を聞き、新しい知識や考え方を学ぶことができました。 特に、同じ研究グループであるM1の山口さんの発表の際には、実験結果や今後の課題について深く議論することができました。また、研究は異なりますが同じ実験を行っているD1のBinodさんの発表の際には、 私の固定概念を覆す新しいアイディアを学ぶことができました。後日、今回のゼミで議論したことについて、山口さんとBinodさんと確認し、今後の研究方針や研究スケジュールを決めました。
ゼミの後の懇親会では、原先生が高知大学より「優秀広報貢献賞」を受賞されたことを研究室一同で祝福しました。誠におめでとうございます。原先生にご指導いただけることを大変誇りに感じており、 私自身もご期待に応えられるようより一層尽力いたします。（B4　秦）

I had the great honor of participating in the seminar of our geotechnical engineering laboratory on 14 April 2026. This seminar marked a significant milestone in my academic journey, as it was my first experience presenting a paper based on the standards of the Japanese Geotechnical Society (JGS). Writing a research paper for the first time was quite challenging, as it required careful attention to various rules, formats, and academic conventions. However, this experience proved to be highly valuable, allowing me to gradually understand the fundamentals of academic writing and research presentation. I am sincerely grateful to my respected professor, Hara Sensei, whose guidance and support were helpful throughout this process. He explained each concept with remarkable depth and precision, and his cooperative and encouraging nature greatly helped me overcome my initial difficulties. His mentorship has been truly inspiring and continues to motivate me in my academic pursuits.
During my presentation, I received productive comments and perceptive feedback from both my senior colleagues and my professor. I felt genuinely happy and encouraged to receive such valuable suggestions, as they are helping me steadily improve my understanding and develop new ideas. The seminar itself was highly engaging, with all participants delivering their presentations effectively. I sincerely wish everyone continued success and encourage each of us to keep challenging ourselves in our academic journey.
Following the seminar, we gathered for a dinner party at Tenteketen Kochi, where we enjoyed a variety of delicious Japanese dishes. I particularly appreciated the tempura and potato fries, which were exceptionally flavorful. I am very thankful to the organizers for selecting such a wonderful venue, which created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. During the gathering, Maruyama-san presented a congratulatory bouquet to Hara Sensei in recognition of his remarkable achievement in receiving the “Outstanding Public Relations Contribution Award “from Kochi University. I felt extremely happy and deeply impressed to witness my respected professor Hara being honored with such a prestigious award. His accomplishment reflects his dedication and excellence, and it serves as a strong motivation for all of us to pursue our academic and professional goals with sincerity and passion.The party concluded with the traditional Japanese style of hand clapping, known as Teuchi (手打ち), symbolizing unity and appreciation. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, and especially to my honorable professor Hara for organizing such a meaningful gathering. Experiences like these not only refresh our minds but also inspire us to endeavor continuously for improvement in our studies and research. (M1 Jamal)

On April 14, we held the first kickoff meeting of the new academic year in Hara Laboratory. It was a great chance for everyone to meet again, welcome new members, and start the year with clear direction and fresh motivation. We began with a short orientation, then several lab members introduced themselves and shared their plans and progress. Each presentation was followed by questions and friendly discussion. Even though it was a formal meeting, the atmosphere stayed warm and comfortable like a small family. It reminded us that our lab is not only a place to do research, but also a place to learn together and support each other.
After the meeting, we had a welcome gathering (懇親会). We enjoyed good food, laughed a lot, and talked about many things research, daily life, and our goals for this year. Spending time together outside the classroom helped us feel closer as a team, and it gave us positive energy to move forward.

原先生　高知大学「優秀広報貢献賞」を受賞［3/31］（2026年4月8日更新）

原先生が、高知大学より「優秀広報貢献賞」を受賞されました。本学の広報顕彰制度は、研究活動等に積極的に取り組み、高知大学の魅力発信に顕著な貢献をされた教職員や学生等の 関係者を高知大学長が表彰する制度です。この度、原先生は以下のご功績により受賞されました。
「長年にわたり防災分野に関する研究成果を社会実装へとつなげ、国内外での実証・普及に尽力されてきた。特に『蛇籠技術』については、開発途上国への技術還元、教科書への掲載、 内閣府大臣官房政府広報室による政府国際広報動画での紹介など、多方面で研究成果が広く発信されている。」（高知大学公式Instagramより）
原先生のご活動を身近で拝見している立場として、研究成果のみならず、パートナーや関係者、さらには組織全体への配慮を大切にしながら取り組まれている点に敬意を抱いておりました。 今回、そのご活躍がこのような形で顕彰されたことを、大変嬉しく思います。私自身も一組織人として大いに学ばせていただくとともに、原先生の今後ますますのご活躍を心よりお祈り申し上げます。（D3 山崎）

この度の「優秀広報貢献賞」の受賞、誠におめでとうございます。原先生には学部３年の秋季より約１年半にわたりお世話になっております。非常にご多忙な中、常日頃より学生の相談に親身になって応じて頂いており、 時にはご自身の貴重なお休みを返上し時間を作って頂くこともありました。学生の立場である私達に対していついかなる時でもまっすぐに向き合ってくださる先生には頭の下がる思いです。 先生の仕事や研究への向き合い方に関して、尊敬の意が尽きる事はありません。先生の研究活動を間近で見られる環境に感謝しながら、今後とも勉強させて頂きたく存じます。（M1 山口）

恒例の花見パーティ［4/5］（2026年4月6日更新）

M1の丸山です。４月５日にお花見が開催されました。今年は鏡川緑地でBBQでした。焼き鳥や海鮮などおいしいものをたくさん食べながら久しぶりに研究室の皆さんとゆっくりお話ができました。 天気も良く桜の季節が終わる前にお花見ができて良かったです。企画してくださった皆様ありがとうございました。これからいよいよ新学期が始まります。時間を大切にたくさんの学びを得られる１年にできるよう頑張ります。(M1 丸山）

4月5日に研究室の花見パーティーに参加させていただきました。前日の大雨で桜が散っていないか心配でしたが、当日は天候にも恵まれ、気持ちの良い花見日和となりました。 花見ではバーベキューで焼き鳥やムケシさんが準備してくださった鶏肉を焼いたり、原先生よりご持参いただいた高価なお酒を飲んだりと充実した時間を過ごすことができました。 鶏肉もお酒も日本ではあまり経験することのない味でとても新鮮でした。また、留学生が音楽にのせて踊るなど、終始雰囲気が良く楽しかったです。 この花見を通して先生や研究室のメンバーとより親睦を深めることができました。今後の研究活動においても、今回築いた関係を大切にしながら、協力して取り組んでいきたいです。 また、自身も最終学年となり、研究や就職活動などで忙しくなりますが、気持ちを新たに今後も一層努力していきたいと思います。（B4　赤木）

鏡川の近くで行われた花見パーティーに参加しました。前日の大雨で桜が散ってしまうことを心配していましたが、会場に足を運んでみると青空が広がり、綺麗な桜が咲いていました！ 桜の下で焼き鳥や海鮮焼き、ネパール料理などを炭火焼きで食べました。また、原先生に冬虫夏草を使ったネパール産のお酒を振る舞っていただきました。どれもとても美味しかったです！ とても楽しい時間で気づけば夕方になっていました。みなさん、楽しい時間をありがとうございました！ (B4　秦)

今回、初めて原研究室のお花見パーティーに参加させていただきました。天候にも恵まれ、最高のお花見日和でした。普段のパーティーとは違い外に出て、皆さんと一つの机を囲み、 お話をしながら楽しく食事をすることができてとても嬉しかったです。またネパール料理やパキスタン料理も堪能し、原研究室ならではの経験をすることのできました。この日のために、 準備をしていただいた皆さんにはとても感謝しております。とても充実した1日となりました。これからの研究も頑張っていきたいと思います。 (B4　廣)

On 2026/04/05, I had a very memorable day on the grassy banks of the Kagami River for the Hanami party. The cherry blossoms were fully blooming and looked very beautiful. Sitting under the open sky with our Sensei and lab friends made me feel peaceful and happy. The atmosphere was both lively and calm. Eating outside under the blossoms made everything feel special with BBQ, drinks, dance, and shared many laughs. We talked about research, life, and also had fun jokes together. It felt more than just a picnic, it was a celebration of friendship and nature. This Hanami reminded me that beyond academic work, these shared moments are equally valuable. I felt grateful, relaxed, and happy, and I will always remember this day. (D2 Mukesh)

On April 5, 2026, the Kochi University Geotechnical Engineering Lab gathered at Momiji Bridge Green Space along the Kagami River (Kagamigawa) to celebrate the beauty of spring through a Hanami Party. With cherry blossoms in full bloom, the riverside setting provided a peaceful and picturesque atmosphere for this special occasion. As part of the Hara Lab family, it was a pleasure to take part in this event, which marked my second Hanami celebration with the group. The gathering was filled with enjoyable moments as lab members shared food, conversations, and laughter under the blooming sakura trees. More than just a seasonal event, this Hanami Party served as an opportunity to strengthen the sense of connection within the laboratory. The relaxed environment allowed for both casual interactions and meaningful discussions, creating a balance between friendship and academic camaraderie.We were also honored by the presence of Professor Tadashi Hara, whose participation added warmth to the event. His continuous support in fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere within the lab is deeply appreciated. This gathering once again highlighted the strong bond within the Kochi University Geotechnical Engineering Lab. I look forward to many more shared experiences and meaningful moments with this wonderful lab family in the future. (D2 Fauzan)

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor Tadashi Hara and all lab members for organizing the Hanami gathering on April 5. The event, held along the beautiful Kagami River in Kochi, added a special charm to the occasion, making it even more joyful and enjoyable the blooming cherry blossoms and pleasant weather. Being part of this gathering, with around eleven participants and warm interactions throughout the day, was a truly memorable experience that I will always cherish. I had often heard about the beauty and cultural importance of Hanami in Japan, and I feel very fortunate to have experienced it personally in such a wonderful setting. I would like to extend my special thanks to Arga-san and Jamal-san for their thoughtful coordination and efforts in making the program so well organized. April 5th was the Cherry Blossom party with Hara Laboratory.This was my third Hanami party with Hara Laboratory. I am Agra, and I felt very happy to be part of Hara-sensei’s laboratory team. But what made this year so special was that we did it with many lab members and in BBQ style. We enjoyed it very much, and we drank and ate so much delicious food in Nepali, Pakistani, and also Japanese style.Not only did we enjoy the Sakura blossoms, but we also chatted, sang, and danced together. At that time, we tried to enjoy our life as academicians and start it with new energy and new passion as a PhD student. In Hara-sensei’s laboratory, we do not only talk about research and education, but it also teaches us to enjoy our lives as people. That is why I will never regret joining this kind of team. On April 5 2026, we the members of Kochi University Geotechnical Engineering Lab gathered at the Momiji Bridge Green Space along the Kagami River for a Hanami (Cherry Blossom) party. The riverside was buzzing with energy, filled with people enjoying the vibrant, festive atmosphere and the cherry blossoms, which were in stunning full bloom. This was my first time joining the group for this spring tradition, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Under a canopy of sakura and perfect weather, we shared an afternoon of great food, drinks, music, and even some dancing. It was the perfect break from our usual academic work, allowing us to connect through laughter and meaningful conversation. We were honored to have Professor Tadashi Hara join us. He treats every member of the lab like family, and his presence added a special warmth to the day. Despite his excellence in academic expertise his kindness and motivating spirit are what make our lab such a welcoming and inspirational place to work.Events like this bring us closer as a team, and I am so grateful to everyone who attended. My name is Jamal ud din, I was honored to join my first hanami party on 6 April 2026. The party in Japan was a truly memorable experience. Sitting under the beautiful cherry blossom trees with my lab members, I felt a deep sense of peace and happiness. Everyone brought delicious food and snacks, and we enjoyed chatting, laughing, and taking photos together. There was so much delicious food like Japanese yakitori, Nepali and Pakistani style barbecue, and all of them cooked and eaten together was truly amazing. It brought back great memories of home. We also enjoyed listening to various kinds of music, from Japanese songs to international tunes, which made the atmosphere even more lively. Everyone danced, smiled. Experiencing this Japanese tradition for the first time made me appreciate the culture even more, and I’m really thankful to have shared it with such kind and cheerful lab mates. (M1 Jamal)
