研究　＞　ビトリナイト反射率

ビトリナイトとは石炭の一種です。植物の材を起原とするそうです。植物が石炭になってゆく過程で水と酸素がどんどん抜けていって次第に炭素が相対的に富むようになります。この程度を石炭化度といいますが、ビトリナイトの反射率が石炭化度と比例しています。石炭化度はこれまで受けた熱エネルギーに比例しています。なので、ビトリナイト反射率から温度の推定を行うことが出来ます。石炭化は非可逆反応なので推定された温度は過去の最高被熱ということになります。この熱源は主に伝導熱と考えられており、高温流体の影響は広域的には無視できます。よってビトリナイト反射率の示す温度は母岩の 過去の最高被熱ということになります。

Vitrinite is a kind of carbonaceous materials, originated from plants. In the processes that plants get to be coal, water and oxygen escaped from the plants to make relative abundance of carbonaceous materials large. The degree of abundance of carbonaceous materials (coal rank) is proportional to vitrinite reflectance. Because coal rank is proportional to thermal energy and the reaction is irreversible, we can estimate the maximum paleo-temperature of host sediments from the vitrinite reflectance.
