Fault rocks include clay-rich layers in many cases. These layers could be related to the formation of fault rocks. By the analysis and determination of clay minerals, the environment of fault-rock formation and rock-fluid interaction along faults are estimated. Fluid can significantly weaken rock strength, making rock-fluid interaction important for understanding fault development.
