Jun Sakamoto is an associate professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kochi University in Japan. He received a Doctor of Civil Engineering (2009) from Nagoya Institute of Technology.
From 2006 to 2008, he worked as an engineer at a Construction consultation company, gaining valuable practical experience. In 2009, he began his teaching and research career as a faculty member at the National Institute of Technology, Gifu College. In 2017, he started as an associate professor at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kochi University. Since 2021, he has also served as an associate professor at Ehime University Graduate School, where he supervises doctoral students.
His research interests include urban planning and disaster prevention planning, with a recent focus on spatial information and digital transformation (DX) research. He has received several awards, including the Outstanding Presenter Award from the Japanese Society of Civil Engineers in 2019 and the Paper Encouragement Award from the Japanese Institute of Urban Planning in 2021.
He has published over 71 papers (2025.8 present), with an increasing number of submissions to international journals in recent years.
